As every year, the Department of Festivities of the Lleida City Council announces a competition among the participants of the Carnival Parade, with the aim of awarding prizes to the best float and the best group registered in the parade.
The verdict will be issued by a jury made up of three people from different backgrounds, specialized in performing arts, costume design, and street activities.
The jury will take into account various aspects such as the costume (originality, craftsmanship, and design), the decoration of the float—when applicable—and its connection to the costumes, the attitude during the parade, the interaction among the members of the group and the float, as well as with the audience.
The jury will carry out an initial review during the gathering of floats at the Camps Elisis area and will then move along the route, observing the development of the parade and its participants.
Floats and groups must be properly identified, displaying the name of the organization and the name of the float or group.
Groups wishing to take part in the competition must be duly registered for the parade.
To facilitate identification if necessary, a photograph of the float or group may be sent before Monday, February 16, at 12:00 p.m. to the following email address: festes@paeria.cat. The identification photograph must be taken during the Carnival Parade—either at the gathering point or during the parade—and retouched, edited, or manipulated photographs will not be accepted.
The jury will announce its verdict during the Burial of the Sardine event on the evening of February 18.
Two prizes are established:
- Best float prize, endowed with €700
- Best group prize, endowed with €500
*The corresponding legal or regulatory deductions will be applied to these amounts.
The jury’s decision shall be final and not subject to appeal.
