This year’s chosen theme was judges and bandits, a proposal that aims to highlight, in an ironic and festive way, two issues that have sparked social debate: on the one hand, the perceived lack of effectiveness of the justice system in certain situations, and on the other, the rise in crime that concerns part of the public.

Through this caricatured combination, the Brotherhood sought to light-heartedly portray the gap between theory and practice within the judicial system, as well as the sense of impunity that often emerges in public discourse.

The costumes made it possible to visually play with two opposing figures—the solemn image of the judge and the more unruly and exaggerated bandit—creating a humorous contrast.

This choice also helped to keep alive the critical and satirical spirit that defines the Brotherhood of Pau-Pí.
